Rose Comb Brown Leghorns
What to Expect
Every rainbow egg basket needs a pop of white — and that’s exactly what these girls bring.
Rose Comb Brown Leghorns combine the legendary laying ability of their White Leghorn cousins with traits that make them better suited for small farms and mixed flocks. Their rose comb gives them improved cold hardiness, and their rich brown plumage helps them blend in while foraging making them both beautiful and practical.
These hens are small, efficient layers with big output. They eat lightly, stay active, and produce an impressive number of large white eggs. Their curious, alert nature makes them excellent foragers, though like most Leghorns, they can be a bit flighty compared to heavier breeds.
I love the contrast their bright white eggs bring alongside my blue, olive, and dark brown layers, it’s the finishing touch in a truly complete egg basket.
Breeding Notes
My flock is from hatchery stock, therefore my focus with this line is maintaining excellent productivity while improving temperament, comb type, and color uniformity.
Because I’m still refining this flock, there’s a chance of hatching a straight-combed chick as I continue breeding toward 100% rose combs.
