Opal - Cream Legbar
What to Expect
The Opal Legbar is a striking breed of chicken known for its unique appearance and inquisitive disposition. With their beautiful, iridescent plumage and distinctive crest, these birds make a charming addition to any backyard flock. Opal Legbars are not only visually appealing but also prolific layers of medium-sized, blue eggs. An auto-sexing breed, chicks can be sexed at hatch.
Our Legbars are selected for vigor, egg color, and type, producing active foragers and steady layers with friendly, curious personalities.
Breeding Notes
Opal Legbars are created by adding the lavender gene into the Cream variety. To maintain healthy feathering, Opals are intentionally bred to Cream rather than always Opal to Opal. Because of this, offspring from these pairings are expected to hatch Opal or Cream. All Cream chicks will carry the lavender gene.
All breeding birds are homozygous for the blue egg gene and I breed towards true blue egg coloring without a green tint.
